Dynamic Collimation for Linear Colliders
Experience with the SLC has indicated that backgrounds caused by the tails of the transverse beam distribution will be a serious problem for a next generation linear collider. Mechanical scrapers may not provide the best solution, because they may be damaged by the tiny, intense beams, and dso because they may induce wakeiIeld kicks large enough to cause emittance dilution. In this paper, we pr...
متن کاملTop Quark Studies at Hadron Colliders
The techniques used to study top quarks at hadron colliders are presented. The analyses that discovered the top quark are described, with emphasis on the techniques used to tag b quark jets in candidate events. The most recent measurements of top quark properties by the CDF and D0 / collaborations are reviewed, including the top quark cross section, mass, branching fractions and production prop...
متن کاملVINCIA1 for Hadron Colliders
We present the first public implementation of antenna-based QCD initialand finalstate showers. The shower kernels are 2 → 3 antenna functions, which capture not only the collinear dynamics but also the leading soft (coherent) singularities of QCD matrix elements. We define the evolution measure to be inversely proportional to the leading poles, hence gluon emissions are evolved in a p⊥ measure ...

متن کاملNext-to-leading Order Slepton Pair Production at Hadron Colliders
We compute total cross sections for various slepton pair production reactions l̃Lν̃L, l̃L ̄̃ lL, l̃R ̄̃ lR and ν̃L ̄̃ νL in next-to-leading order QCD. For pp̄ collisions at √ S = 2 TeV, we find leading order cross sections to be enhanced by typically 35% to 40%. For pp collisions at √ S = 14 TeV, the enhancement ranges from 25% to 35% depending on the mass of the sleptons. We comment upon the phenomenolog...
